I have worked on most aspects of agricultural risk transfer including reinsurance underwriting, developing new (re)insurance programs, structuring indemnity- and index-based products and modelling agricultural risks.

Agricultural Risk Transfer is my most recent project and is a book that comprehensively summarizes all core concepts of risk transfer, exemplified and that are underlined with industry case studies based on personal experience in both mature and developing agricultural markets. Having worked at the forefront of large and rapid growth in agricultural insurance in Asia and my current consulting work with (re)insurers and the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) has provided me with a good understanding of the current knowledge gap in the industry.

This volume is an important addition to the growing literature on agricultural risk management. It comprehensively synthesizes a host of relevant issues related to both mature and emerging agricultural markets. Agricultural Risk Transfer is a great resource for researchers and students seeking to gain deeper insight into how insurance and other financial instruments can stimulate investment in agriculture by transferring catastrophic risks out of local areas and into global markets.
